These are some of the vintage restored pinaofortes past and present in the Hennessy Music Collection, and represent various states of restoration in our advertisement on the Internet.
Mr.
Frank Hennessy is a Registered Piano Technician (RPT of the
Piano
Technicians Guild) and tone
specialist who brings vintage instruments of all manufacture
back to life. Mr. Hennessy has been in the music business
in Columbia for over 20 years, and has been rebuilding pianos since 1960.
The Bullocks have purchased four instruments from Hennessy since 1985.
Mr.Hennessy's restored instruments not only look brand new with respect
to fit and finish, but they play and sound better than new. Extensive detail
and countless man hours are spent in setting dampers, tone and touch regulation,
and using only the best available parts
for restoration.
A typical Hennessy
instrument is generally voiced and tone regulated to appeal
to the widest number of buyers. However, specific instruments can be darkened
or brightened to satisfy the specific needs or customer's ear. Mr.Hennessy
does not say it's ready, until his sense of tone says "Yes!" When you play
one of Frank's restorations, you instantly note how good the instrument
feels to the fingers. His customer's first response is usually, "Nice touch!"
when they sit down to play one of the vintage instruments. Worried, Frank
will ask if the tone is O.K. The customer will generally say, "Oh!, the
tone is lovely!"
