What's the best value in New/Experienced  9' concert grand cases on the market?

In my view, American "made in the U.S.A."  manufactured concert grand case instruments are the best bang for the buck compared to quality Asian and European makes by many thousands of dollars.

Baldwin SD 10                                                  Steinway D Hennessy Restoration

Is American the best? No..... Depends... on the buyer who's paying for the rascal and his perception of his satisfaction! Few folks in Europe would probaby buy an American instrument when they have a whole bunch of nice instruments to choose from right there on their side of the planet! Bösendorfer, Bechstein, Fazioli, Seiler, and Hamburg Steinway, et cetera.

If I had the luxury of having $100,000+- in my pocket  to spend for a new concert grand, and given that a Yamaha, Bosendorfer,  Bechstein, or Fazioli would cost around $100,000+-...  I'll take American Made priced from $65,000+- to $75,000+-...   With the $25,000-$35,000 savings,  I can put a down payment on a new red Lamborghini.  I have a fondness for pianos, as well as Lamborghini's.

However...I am frugal desiring the most bang & boom for the Buck!
The best kept secret ....sssssssshhhh!  Baldwinfor a concert grand. Brand new, the Baldwin is just a little less expensive than the Steinway.... thus, I have more of a down payment for the red Lamborghini...Simple!

Mr. Hennessy found an artist series 1988 Baldwin SD-10 and worked on it for me. It is a pretty awesome critter....it surprises everyone who plays it from the UMC Music Department to guest artists who drop in to play it or practice on it.

I get a big kick out of pianists playing my Baldwin for the first time. When stepping up to the plate, the pianist will snear to learn it's a Baldwin...After playing a little bit...

The general reaction is: "Whoa! This is a Baldwin????"
I say: "Yeah! That's what's on the fallboard and what's stamped on the metal plate.
              It's been prepared by Frank Hennessy....It's really a Hennessy-Baldwin!"

But... if you want to deliver a new Bösendorfer, Bechstein, or Fazioli to my doorstep,  I wouldn't refuse the delivery! I love big pianos. So, what do you expect....? I love big cars! Saving grace is...my Baldwin fits in my living room....my Deuce & a Quarter does not... it's 19.5' long! The SD-10...only about 9'! And, if I don't like the touch and tone of what you deliver me out of the box...Heck, I ship it down to Hennessy's for Frank to work on it...Ain't Life Simple! Yeah, I believe in what Frank does...
